Hardwood Done Right Starts Before the First Board
Hardwood is a natural material. It expands and contracts as humidity changes, and the Magic Valley swings from dry winters to irrigation-season summers. Install it over a damp or uneven subfloor and it will tell you: boards cup, gaps open up, seams squeak, and adhesive lets go.
That's why every hardwood job we do starts underneath. We measure moisture in the subfloor and in the wood itself, flatten the subfloor to the manufacturer's tolerance, and only then start laying boards. It's slower than the shortcut, and it's why our floors stay flat, quiet and beautiful for years.
Hardwood Flooring We Install
Engineered hardwood
A real hardwood top layer over a stable core, so it handles humidity changes better than solid wood. It's the most popular hardwood we install today, and it works in more rooms, including over concrete and in basements, depending on the product.
Solid hardwood
Milled from a single piece of wood. Classic, long-lasting, and can be sanded and refinished many times over its life.
Wide-plank, herringbone and more
From long, wide planks to classic patterns, we plan the layout so lines run straight through doorways, hallways and open floor plans.
How We Install Hardwood
Most of the engineered hardwood we install goes down with a full-spread adhesive installation: adhesive troweled across the entire subfloor so every inch of every board is bonded. Done right, a full-spread install feels solid underfoot, sounds quiet, and resists movement. We also nail down or float hardwood when the product and your subfloor call for it.
- Moisture testing: subfloor and wood readings before anything goes down.
- Acclimation: when the product requires it, the wood adjusts to your home first.
- Subfloor prep: we screw down loose spots, sand high seams, and level low spots so the floor is flat to spec.
- Layout: we plan the starting line, row spacing and transitions before the first board.
- Installation: the correct trowel and adhesive coverage (or fastener schedule), tight joints, proper expansion space.
- Finishing details: stair nosing, transitions, baseboards and trim, then cleanup and a walkthrough.
Hardwood Refinishing
If your hardwood is scratched, dull or worn through in the traffic paths, it may not need replacing. Refinishing sands the floor back to fresh wood and applies a new protective finish. It's a fraction of the cost of new flooring, and it's the perfect moment to change the stain color.
During your free estimate we'll check the floor's condition and wear layer and tell you honestly whether refinishing or replacement makes more sense.

Hardwood Floor Installation FAQs
Engineered or solid hardwood: which is better?
Neither is "better". They suit different situations. Engineered hardwood is more stable through humidity changes and can go in more places, including over concrete in many cases. Solid hardwood can be refinished more times over its life. We'll help you choose based on your rooms, your subfloor and your budget.
What is a full-spread adhesive installation?
It means adhesive is troweled across the entire subfloor, not just in beads or spots, so every board is fully bonded. It's the method most engineered hardwood manufacturers specify for glue-down installs, and it gives a solid, quiet floor.
Can hardwood go in a kitchen?
Yes, many homeowners love hardwood in the kitchen. It just needs a little care: wipe up spills promptly and use mats at the sink. If your kitchen sees a lot of water, we may suggest LVP instead.
How long does hardwood installation take?
It depends on the square footage, the subfloor prep needed, and whether the wood needs to acclimate first. You'll get a clear timeline with your estimate.
Can you refinish my existing hardwood floors?
Yes. We'll look at the floor during your free estimate and recommend refinishing or replacement based on its condition.
