Light oak laminate flooring in a family room

Tough, Good-Looking and Budget-Friendly

Laminate has come a long way. Modern laminate has crisp, realistic wood visuals, a hard wear layer that resists scratches better than almost any other floor, and many newer products offer real water resistance. For busy family rooms and bedrooms, it's one of the best values in flooring.

Why Laminate Installation Quality Matters

Laminate is a floating floor: it isn't glued or nailed down, so it relies completely on a flat subfloor, the right underlayment, and room to expand. Skip any of those and you'll see joints peaking, floors that feel hollow or bouncy, or buckling when the seasons change. We get all three right on every job.

How We Install Laminate

  1. Removal and disposal of old flooring (included).
  2. Furniture moving as needed.
  3. Subfloor prep: flat, clean, and solid, with leveling where needed.
  4. Underlayment matched to the product and the room, including a moisture barrier over concrete.
  5. Installation: staggered joints, clean cuts, and expansion gaps hidden under baseboards and trim.
  6. Transitions, stairs and trim, then cleanup and a final walkthrough.

Why Homeowners Choose Laminate

  • Very scratch-resistant: one of the toughest surfaces for pets
  • Realistic wood looks at an affordable price
  • Firm, solid feel underfoot
  • Water-resistant options available

Best for: living rooms, bedrooms, offices, hallways, family rooms and stairs.

Laminate on Stairs

We install laminate on stairs with matching stair nosing, so your new floor carries through the whole home with a clean, durable edge.

Laminate Flooring Installation FAQs

Laminate or LVP: which should I choose?

Laminate is usually harder and more scratch-resistant; LVP is generally better with water and a little quieter. For kitchens, baths and basements we usually lean LVP; for living areas and bedrooms, laminate is a great value. We'll show you both during your in-home estimate.

Is laminate waterproof?

Some newer laminate products are rated water-resistant, and some are marketed as waterproof for a set time. Laminate is still best kept out of full bathrooms and other wet areas.

Why do laminate floors buckle?

Usually from missing expansion gaps, moisture from below, or an uneven subfloor. Proper installation prevents all three.

Can laminate go on stairs?

Yes. We install laminate on stairs with matching nosing for a clean, finished look.

How long does laminate installation take?

Many single-room installs take a day. You'll get a timeline with your estimate.
